Benefits of a High Fiber Diet by @loandlemons

Ever since I started my journey with F-factor I have been looking for ways to satisfy my sweet cravings without compromising my nutritional requirements. Raw Rev Glo bars have been an absolutely amazing addition into my diet especially to help fulfill my fiber needs!

For anyone who is not aware of the F-factor diet, it is not really a diet, it is more of a lifestyle that focuses on incorporating more fiber into your routine. I am a Registered Dietitian - to be - and I will never condone any type of non-sustainable diet. I barely even think of F-factor as a diet because I am just so dedicated to getting my fiber in rather than focusing on a restrictive diet mentality. Each day I strive for at least 35g of fiber daily, and I most certainly don’t have to cut out any food groups!


So why fiber, what are the benefits of a high fiber diet, and most importantly what even is fiber?!


  1. Fiber is a part of carbohydrates that cannot be digested by the body. It is found only in plant derived foods such as grains, fruits and vegetables and legumes, never in animal products.
  2. Fiber lowers cholesterol - fiber interferes with bile acids in the intestines and causes them to be eliminated as waste. With the loss of these bile acids, the body wants to make up for it. In order to make new bile acids we need cholesterol. The body will begin to pull cholesterol out of LDL (bad cholesterol), hence lowering cholesterol and creating a new bile acid.
  3. Boosts metabolism - since fiber is the indigestible part of carbohydrate the body revs up the metabolism attempting to digest it, which burns calories, hello miracle nutrient!
  4. Steadies blood sugar levels - a big problem with the American diet is the lack of fiber and the excess of processed food. Processed foods and refined sugars are causing our blood sugar to spike, and come crashing down leading to cravings for more refined carbs. It is a vicious cycle! When you add fiber into your diet it will slow digestion, leading to steadied blood sugar, curbed cravings and sustained energy. Now who doesn’t want that?!
  5. Healthy gut - fiber is prebiotic. Prebiotics are food for the probiotics which all contribute to our gut micro biome. Not only are you fueling your body but you are feeding your gut!

One last thing! My favorite Raw Rev Glo bar flavor has to be peanut butter dark chocolate & sea salt. Tapping in at 13g of fiber, I’m practically half way to my daily goal just from my snack alone!
